Who we are
The International Surgical Week ISW 2022 - the World's Congress of Surgery is the 49th congress of the International Society of Surgery ISS/SIC and the congress of the Integrated Societies (IAES, IATSIC, IASMEN, BSI, ISDS and ASAP), and the Participating Societies.
The history of the International Society of Surgery (ISS/SIC) began in 1902 on the initiative of Belgian surgeons Antoine Depage and his colleagues. The society has a goal to work for international teaching in surgery, both specialized and general surgery, in developed and developing countries.
Today ISS/SIC is representing surgeons and anaesthetists from across the globe. More than 2,000 medical professionals from across the globe have discovered the value of ISS/SIC membership as an essential investment in their future. ISS/SIC offers benefits that inspire, drive and connect us in the translation of science to advance clinical practice and improve the lives of millions of people worldwide.
